THE MOONS OF CHUR

The Elves

The Elves (or as they call themselves the Ilmili, meaning true folk) are one of the predominant species on Yevann. Their defining traits are their pointed ears, cat-like eyes, venerable lifespans (most live over a century or two) and their colorful skin.
There are three main races of Ilmili, however some other minor ones exist as well, they are:

The Almili, the Bronze or Sun Elves*, native to the Hand of Sanmicur and with skin like bronze. Their people is home to strong warriors and terrifying assassins, through which Empires have been built and maintained. They have an affinity for the weakest of the schools of magic, the Solar rite and as such are known to wield powerful weapons and technology.

The Dilili, the Blood or Dark Elves*, native to the western mountains of Unterimia, known for their menacing red eyes and ashy grey skin. Most of the famous Wizards amongst the moons are Dark Elves, as they have an above average blood richness and thus are more likely to become masters of the most powerful school of magic, Blood. The strongest amongst them become sanguine cyborgs, being pumped with new blood constantly in order to strenghten their spells.

The Istili, the Ice or White Elves*, who are native to the northern wastes of Unterimia, sporting pale skin with blueish or pinkish hues and piercing blue eyes. Many White Elves are known to be cunning statesmen and many of the administrators of the NorSiCan Federations are among them. They are a deeply religious people and wrap their bodies with spells and prayers in order to wield the Power of Faith, their preferred school of magic.

As mentionned before there are other types of elves such as the seafaring Silmili* and the underground Ta'aili* among others, however, they are poorly documented.

History

The Ilmili were created by a strong love between the Feline patron-god Sha-rwat and the whore lordspirit, Sukahil, father and mother to all. As they kissed from space directly into the young moon Yevann they impacted and created the land of Unterimia where they layed for a hundred orbits and out of their flesh crawled the Ilmili, bearing the eyes of Sha-rwat and the flesh of Sukahil.

The gods' eldest daughter, Ro'kanen, came to lead the first hundred, teaching them the divine path to power - three simple rules laid out by Sha-rwat before she left for the skies:
  1. The Mother always comes before the father
  2. The Eldest before the youngest
  3. And
  4. The Devout before the fickle
And thus the hundred followed the commandments, forming together an Empire in the southern reaches meant to last for a million years thanks to the divine path to power. Unfortunately for them, the Ilmili were granted free will by their patrons and many doubted the way. When at the end of the first millenia Queen Ro'kanen, thought invincible and immortal, was slain by the Wizard-king of Men and Orgs, Baarthur of the East. Many Ilmini lapsed and elected the young war chief Kho'slimo as King, betraying all three of the principles of the divine path. Kho'slimo always was a doubter of the way and betrayed it further by calling upon the help of the god of Grime and Earth: Hel-u'sma*, with whom he formed a covenant granting him and his legions with strength as long as they remained united else his people be cursed for all time. With the ill obtained power the Ilmili defeated the eastern hordes, however as soon as word reached the Ilmini of the covenent hell broke lose, and they fell into a state of war not without but within.

Lord Hel-u'sma came back to check on his covenant a century later, only to find Kho'slimo dead, and his people killing eachoher over dogma. Enraged, he cast a spell cursing them never to be united again and split into different races. The Aulmili, those who remained faithful to the King's way, the Thilmili, who betrayed both the way and the king and the Isthmili, who remained faithful to the way. Those three over millenia changed and split further and sometimes merged again, today there are about five races of Ilmili all claiming to be the true noble descendants of the Ilmili.
